Our Story


Everyday, We are risk of eating vegs with pesticide residues, and plants grown from polluted lands. what's more, so many vegitables rotted or wasted in delivery from farmland to cities. What's gradually become a serious topic when we are no longer eat health as before. But we pleased to find that hydroponics would be a new way of planting and make everything under control.

After finishing his career in Huawei as a hardware engineer in 2010, Will Chen observed the poteintial growth lead by LED diodes to replacing traditional lamps. Months later, he coupled with Wade Wong, who is an experienced expert in grow lights development for 11 years, to established Idea grow. Aimed to apply LED technologies in plant growth, to develop high performance lamps suit for indoor hydroponics. And LED grow lights turned to be a new trends in later years.

2011——We launched first series model, FP series lamps, for indoor vegs growth. it was a difficult begining for a new born company when there is no reliable sources to assist. and this series products was produced for a client in EU market, thanks for their support, so we can finish it as scheduled and business servive in the first year.

2012——Still looking for more opportunity by developing new lamps, and busy in market researching for north America and EU countries. LED lights gradually developing, rapid increase lead by commercial lighting helps for grow lights materials, we start a stable cooperation in supply chain. which help us shorten time in new items. and faster delivery.

2014——Annual Volume reach 500,000 USD. Optimize products line by replacing diodes and materials, start our own production line, labors came to 8. customized orders for mini quantity acceptable. CREE CXA2530 CXB3590 used in COB lights. And which to be main item of our category in the coming years.

2016——Moved to a 3000 m2 new site, to expend capacity, Opened another collection

——therapy lights.equiped with a 4 people customer service team. this year, we attend exhibition in Hongkong, and England, and US. Seeking for ideas from customers, looking for latest products and trends. Idea grow accumulated some relations with brands and distributors during that time.

2017——Developed aquarium grow bars with clients in Canada, Annual volume reach 1 million USD. hydroponics is a main topics in this year. we developed new grow bars and go through ETL special for indoor growth in north America market. Got in touch with several vertical farms.
2018——Attend Cannabis exhibition in Las Vegas, US. This year we had a important change in business, Samsung launched diodes for plant growth, which is very efficacy to replace traditional lights. Cannabis allowed in many states of America. We predicted the bloom of personal and commercial growth of hemp there.
2019——To be vendor of Gardyn. start new projects with B2C brands. Annual volume reach 2 millions USD. Our advantage and experience in hydroponics lead to reputation in this field, We do a lot of customized projects this year.
2020——As a full line LED grow lights manufacturer in China, and leader in therapy lights. We have 2 production line, and 2 sales team to support retailers, wholesalers, and brands. Our main business still for B2B.
2021——Keep growing after COVID-19, we have reached half of sales volume as last year till begining of April. We believe that business is more about relations, and relations base on user perspective instead of selling products.

How to choose a grow light?


Are you lost in so many grow lights brands and items when you browse on internet? We have a lot choices between brands and products, but we have very limited options in configurations for a upper grade grow LEDs. grow light options. This list will reveal the LED grow light specifications that really matter, fixture quality, and yields.


Light Intensity

What is the PPF of grow fixture? Is this a sufficient amount of light considering the wattage draw and efficacy?

~1700-2400 umol/s per 5’x5’+ area

~1300-1700 umol/s per 4’x4’ to 5’x5’ area

~600-1300 umol/s per 3’x3’ to 4’x4’ area

~300-600 umol/s per 2’x2’ to 3’x3’ area

❐ Are the PPFD readings sufficient for your stage of growing? How uniform are the readings across the footprint?

❐ Can you calculate the average PPFD using the PAR chart? Average PPFD = Sum of PPFD readings / number of PPFD readings.

❐ Is the average PPFD sufficient for your plant’s stages of growth? Veg: 300-600 umol/m2/s, Flower: 600-1000 umol/m2/s or more.


Spectrum

● Spectrums made by single-wavelength chips are becoming less common since they are not as energetically efficient, and lower PPFD, lack canopy penetration. Normal with budget lights.

● White light full-spectrums (white diodes or COBs) commonly range from 3000K to 4000K. 3000K is best for flower, 3500K is best for full-cycle, and 4000K is best for veg. Less common.

● Enhanced white light spectrums (base of white light enhanced with UV, blue, red, and/or far-red diodes) are a good option since they provide all of the useful wavelengths that plants absorb and utilize. 3500K with added 660nm red is a popular spectrum. Increasingly common and ideal.

Is the spectrum sufficient for your plant’s growth stage?

● Increased blue = ideal for veg ( 4000K white light spectrum)

● Increased red = ideal for flower ( 3000K or 3500K white light spectrum)

● Does the fixture offer spectrum turning between the growth and flower stage? This can be energy saving while delivering an ideal spectrum during veg and flower. Not necessary, but can be helpful.


Wattage Draw & Electricity

❐ How many watts does the fixture draw from the wall?

Indicate the actual wattage. not number of total LED watts.

❐ Consider about 35 watts per square foot.

30 watts to 44 watts is a common range. best for plants growth. Wattage does not equate to light output so do not use the wattage draw to determine how ‘powerful’ a fixture might be.

❐ What is the receptacle voltage for your light?

Most home circuits in the USA are 120V. Some growers use 240V. Commercial growers typically use 240V or higher. Many other areas in the world (inc. Europe, UK, AU) use 240V.

Ensure the light you select is rated for your voltage application. Most LED grow lights have a flexible driver rated from 110V-277V. 

❐ Is the plug type correct or will you need an adapter?

PPFE

❐ What is the efficacy of the fixture in umol/j? This is the amount of light the fixture exudes per watt. If it is not reported, you can estimate using this equation: PPF/wattage draw . Does efficacy matter to you? If so, look for fixtures above ~2.4 umol/j. If not, at least know how much light (PPF or average PPFD) you are getting for the wattage being drawn from the wall by the fixture.

❐ Less expensive, budget lights are typically very inefficient since they use inferior parts. Knowing the cost per photon ($/PPF) can help you decide which on the best light for your budget. Everyone wants the most light for their dollar, but it is not always attainable.


Coverage Area & Footprint

❐ What size area do you need to cover with light? Calculate your total grow area in square feet. Aisles and spaces where plants are not growing do not need to be considered. Choose a fixture or sets of fixtures that fully cover your area. Use the manufacturer’s recommended footprint as a starting point for finding a fixture.

❐ Use the PAR map to determine the uniformity and intensity across the recommended footprint. Are the PAR values sufficient for your grow area?

❐ Do you want/need lenses? Lenses can affect how the light is distributed across the footprint and how well that intensity holds at particular heights. Lenses create a more concentrated footprint. Fixtures with no lenses have a more diffused footprint. Again, refer to the fixture’s PAR map. Notice how quickly or slowly the values drop off when the PPFD is measured at different heights.


Dimensions & Weight

❐ What are the dimensions of the fixture? Will this fixture fit in your grow space?

❐ What is the weight of the fixture? Will the fixture be too heavy for the fixture’s support system?

Build/Construction

❐ What brand of diodes does the fixture use? Higher quality diodes last longer and are more efficient (more light/watt). CREE, Samsung, Osram, Lumiled, and Bridgelux are commonly used high-quality chips. Epistar and Epiled are mid to low-quality chips, in comparison.

❐ What brand of driver(s) power the LEDs? Mean Well and Inventronics make high-quality drivers. There are othergood ones too. Low quality drivers in most budget lights fail quickly.


Special Features

❐ Does the fixture with daisy chain, spectrum control, scheduling, or other advanced features? Do you

need/want these features? They allow you to add controllability into your lighting and allow experimentation, the more expensive it is and the more likely something can break/fail. good quality fixtures have better features with less downtime.


Certifications

❐ Do you require any particular certifications (UL/ETL/CSA/CE, etc). For home growers do not need certifications. However, commercial growers required UL or ETL certified. If you are in the European Union or Canada, you might require a fixture with a CE mark and CSA mark, respectively.


Warranty

❐ How long is the warranty? LED grow light warranties can range from 1 year a ‘lifetime’. Most companies offer a 3-year warranty. However, 5-year warranties are also very common. Fixtures with longer warranties are generally more expensive. Know the manufacturer's warranty policy beforehand in case something happens to your fixture.


Price

❐ How does the price of the fixture influence your decision to purchase it? Search for lights within your budget (if you have one), or stretch your budget to get a better quality fixture. If money is not an issue, choose a light based off of high performance, light output, efficiency, and quality parts.
